DAY 2: LUANG PRABANG – CITY TOUR (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the hotel, then departure for the Luang Prabang city tour:
Discover Wat Xieng Thong, the monastery of the Golden City, whose ornaments, mosaics, and stupas are among the most exquisite. In this temple, you can admire a spectacular reclining Buddha in a purely Laotian style. Next, visit Watsense, or literally "Temple of 100,000 Treasures," one of the most beautiful temples in Luang Prabang, unique for its restored paintings in a deep, vibrant ochre color, shimmering with gold.
The tour of Luang Prabang continues with a visit to the city's historic temple: Wat Visoun, built in the early 16th century. Partially destroyed by fire in 1887, its restoration was redesigned in the style of the Khmer temple Wat Phou. A short walk away, you'll discover Wat Aham.
In the afternoon, you'll visit the Royal Palace, now a museum, where you'll learn about the history of the region and the royal family. The National Museum displays the famous Pha Bang, a golden Buddha statue. Finally, you'll visit Wat Mai, built in the typical Luang Prabang style. Its wooden "sim" (temple) and five-sided roof are characteristic features.
In the evening, free time to visit the night market.
Meals at your own expense. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 3: LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU – NONG KHIAW (B)
Breakfast at the hotel.
Boarding a private boat for a beautiful cruise on the Mekong to the famous Pak Ou caves, "the mouth of Ou" in French, named after this tributary of the Mekong.
On the way, we stopped to visit the village of Ban Xang Khong, about 3km from the center of Luang Prabang. The village has specialized for years in the making and selling of silks and Saa paper (paper made from mulberry bark); shops have developed in recent years in the surrounding area, but there are also a few traditional looms, used by locals whose techniques have not changed.
Upon your arrival in Pak Ou, you will visit the temples of Tham Ting and Tham Phun. These temples were carved by natural erosion into limestone cliffs and are now dedicated to Buddhist worship. Many families make pilgrimages there, which is why you can see approximately 4,000 Buddha statues placed there by Laotians as a sign of devotion.
In the afternoon, we'll travel to Nong Khiaw (approximately 3 hours). Upon arrival, we'll check into our hotel and then have some free time to relax or explore the area around Nong Khiaw.
